Empowering Youth Through Chess and Digital Skills

At Chess in Slums Africa, we believe in the transformative power of chess, not just as a game, but as a gateway to broader opportunities. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with Digital Fortress Institute (DFI), a leading ICT talent development organization in Nigeria.

About Digital Fortress Institute

Established in 2006, Digital Fortress Institute has been at the forefront of digital skills training in Nigeria. With campuses in Dopemu and Anthony Village, Lagos, DFI offers a wide range of courses, including Python, Data Analytics, Java, DevOps, Digital Marketing, and more. Their mission is to empower individuals and organizations with the tech skills required to transform their world .

Through their CSR initiative, Street2Click, DFI aims to bridge the digital divide by providing underserved youth with access to quality IT education. The program focuses on equipping young people with in-demand technical and soft skills, preparing them for successful careers in the digital economy .

A Game-Changing Collaboration

This partnership is a natural extension of our mission to empower children and youth in underserved communities. Through Street2Click, DFI will sponsor two of our Chess in Slums Africa ambassadors every quarter, providing them with cutting-edge digital skills training. This initiative not only enhances their technical abilities but also opens doors to a future rich with possibilities.

Beyond Chess: A Holistic Approach to Empowerment

While chess remains at the heart of our programs, we recognize the importance of equipping our ambassadors with a diverse skill set. By integrating digital literacy into our curriculum, we’re preparing our youth for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. This collaboration with DFI aligns with our vision of creating well-rounded individuals who are not only strategic thinkers but also tech-savvy changemakers.

Looking Ahead

This quarter, two of our ambassadors will embark on their journey into the world of technology, and we couldn’t be prouder. A heartfelt thank you to DFI for believing in our vision and investing in the next generation of leaders.

Stay tuned as we share updates on their progress and celebrate the milestones along the way. Together, we’re not just teaching chess; we’re shaping the future.
